Newsletter Sign-up mod for ProductCart

Newsletter Sign-up is a simple mod for ProductCart 3 & 4 which provides an easy option for your customers to subscribe to your ProductCart mailing list.

This mod provides a simple sign-up form you can place anywhere on your site requesting the user's email address. When they enter their address they are taken to a subscription page where you can announce the benefits of subscribing and where they can confirm their email address and enter their name (so that you can personalize your emails to them). Once this is submitted, an email is sent to request confirmation to subscribe (a “double opt-in”, required to be “above board” on spam regulations).

If the email address already exists in your store's customer database, the existing account will be updated when the user confirms their opt-in; if not, then a new customer record will be created with a randomly generated password. On version 4 of ProductCart, this new user will be created as a “guest” account.

Even if you are using a third party email marketing service such as Constant Contact, iContact or AWebber, etc. this can be very useful, as ProductCart's Newsletter Wizard provides some excellent ways to filter your mailing list based on criteria such as customers who did or did not purchase a certain product, or whether they purchased within a given date range.
